Fellas',please bare with me. I'm new to the long range benchrest,or competitive shooting. I'm in the process of putting a new rifle together to be able to shoot 1,000 yards with.I'm trying to use as many on hand components as possible. I have a Stolle/Teddy action,glue-in bedded in an SG&Y stock. The rifle is set up for sporter weight short range benchrest now (100&200 yard shooting). The rifle weighs in at 10.5# with a 21" barrel and Jewel 2oz. trigger. My plans are to turn it into a 6XC a little at a time. I just ordered some 20 MOA scope rings from Jerry Stiller, for a start. I'm on the waiting list with David Tubb for some of his moly coated 115gr. bullets, and some of his brass that he is having manufactored. At this time I have two scopes that I can use on the rifle.1st being a Leupold 36x BR,the second is an Leupold 6.5x20. Which of these would ya'll suggest I start with? My second concern is how do I go about zeroing in the rifle with the 20 MOA rings? This is going to be a project that will be built as funds are available,so there is no hurry. I'm just trying to get my ducks all in a row,so I'll at least know how to set things up. As I understand it, I can bring the weight up to 16#,is this correct? Does this include F-Class also? I appreciate any info,or suggestions you can pass along. I'm here to try to learn, and looking for help. Hopeing to do things as correct as possible from the get go instead of spending unnecessay money. Also has anyone heard about the new 1,000 yrd. range being build down here in the Houston, Texas area? As I understand it,they are supposed to have their first long range match later this month,or sometime next month. Looking forward to meeting some of you in the future. Thanks Wayne Johnson

that a 6 BR forum but :

you own a pure BR 100/200 rifle in .. PPC ? or 308 bolt face

your barrel is 21 but what pitch heavy bullet need short /fast pitch so try to reuse or rechamber a slow pitch barrel is imposible

XC work fine but as the new 115 that a bit 'top fuel ' for a beginner ebst is to go with regular 6 Norma BR barrel and regular dies with 90 to 108 gr bullets witch are commun and easy to find

a 26 inch in 1 in 8 pitch can do the job

115 GR Tubbs are hight power and XC too , chamber specs are design for repeater high power and not for BR shooting even if they be set for BR shooting

good shooting

Appreciate the reply. After I reread my post I realized I left out a few things. I do plan to chamber another barrel for the long range. Also the boltface on the present rifle is a .308. The reason I ask for information here is this is where I found out about Tubbs setup. Sorry if I wrinkled some feathers, as that was not my intentions. Thanks Wayne Johnson

ok that more clear

you go with 26/27 inch barrel 1 in 8 pitch ( enought for 1 k ) and less costly than barrel over 28 inch

a regular match barrel ( from G Schneider for example ) chambred in 6 norma BR with 105/107 gr can be very competive at 1K after if you need for horse power you can always rechamber for a bigger case as 243 AI

you rifle is not heavy so carefully check balance and avoid heavy bull barrel

good shooting
