G'day,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions for portable shooting bench design or can point me in the right direction for some plans.

I'm planning to build one in the next few weeks.

Cheers

Thanks Paul,

I'd be interested to hear from anyone using this bench, I am a larger gent and want to be sure that it is sturdy enough.

I came across some other styles with screw in style legs, has anyone used this style, and how sturdy are they?

Cheers

Muz,

Did you see this page: http://www.larrywillis.com/shootingbench.html

Looks very sturdy, albeit heavy (25kg). I might cut the wood top in two pieces and bolt it together at the range to make it easier to fit in a smaller vehicle. You could also lighten the design by cutting the top straight on the opposite side from that which you shoot.

Might try this:

Cheap and easy. Have to supply your own stool or bench, though. It's worked well for me, to the demise of more than a few prairie dogs. Currently serving as my cleaning bench in the 'off season' :)

Oh, a hint: for us taller folk, extend the legs w/ some EMT conduit to make it stand up taller. Doesnt take much, a hack saw to cut a split, slide it over the original legs, glue/tape in place, put some crutch tips over the bottoms of the feed to keep them from sinking in the dirt. works great.

If you need some welded pipe brackets for your own table...I got 'em..either 1.25" or 1.50"..build your top from plywood (24x36) with shooter cutout as shown in pic..buy some threaded pipe locally, put it together !!

Brackets are $42 for 1.25" and $46 for the 1.50" sets of three. These are HD & welded to 1/4" plate...plus UPS to home or work, weigh 6# or so to ship.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I think the Larry Willis style will suit me the best.
