I have heard (read) "seat the bullet well into the lands" when fire forming. Does that mean .005, .010 or "jam" length. How far is "well into the lands"?

"well" to me would mean jam, or around .030"+

this isnt the best method to FF though.

the false shoulder method seems to create less runout in FF"ed rounds than depending on the long seating.

which round are you making?

Building a modified 6BRX, no neck turn .271 with longer throat. Have almost always used "jam" before, so just wondered how others are doing it, and determine what "well into the lands" was.

There seems to be different opinions on the best way to fire form. Thank you jb1000, I was not aware there was a dedicated page to fire forming on this site, I have made a copy of it.
Everyone seems so forthcoming to offer assistance to shooters they don't even know and I think that's great.
Thank you all.
