Looking for some guidance with determining the OAL of Lapua brass in 6BR. I'm somewhat new to shooting and the previous cali I did not have a prob getting to Saami specs of that cali. Have a new Pac Nor in 6BR and have shoot the brass 5 times and it it growing to 1.554 to 1.558. I believe the Saami is 1.555 for 6BR. I have seen a plug you can insert to measure case OAL, does anyone use it? Do I even have to worry much about the case length? I have heard it is a dangerous sit, but it is talked about rarely on these boards. Any help is appreicated.

New Lapua brass measures 1.555. SAAMI spec for 6mmBR Norma case is 1.560. Spec for 6mmBR Rem is 1.520. I'm assuming your chamber is for the 6mmBR Norma case or you would have run into problems by now. The Lapua brass is headstamped 6mmBR Norma-Lapua. I trim all my cases to 1.550 when any one reaches 1.558.
Hope this helps

Thanks for getting back to me, RS
It is in fact for 6BR Norma-Lapua. It could be time to trim all pcs the exact length as mentioned, but I just thought of something that I would like to throw out there. My seating depth of the bullet in case is only aprox .020 with this new barrel 12 twist using 66-70 grain pills. To me in my limited experiance, this seating length is on the short side and if I could get more seating depth with the longer case...could I be better off?? So how do I find out what the longest length of case I can run without buying an expensive devise or could I be playing with fire here?
Do I cut all to 1.555 and just run this???
Thanks again.

To check your chamber length (cheap) Sinclair has a chamber length gauge for 6mm (number G-243) you have to sacrafice a piece of brass to use it, but will give you good idea what length to trim to. Once you have established your chamber length you will need to trim to SAAMI spec which is like .019 to.021 shorter than your measured chamber length. Good luck.
