Hi Guys,

I am a new member here. I am not totally new to a 6mm Br as I load for a friends custom 6 BR, very very accurate. Shoots in the .100-.250 range all day at 100 yds. I also had a 22 BR for a few yrs, also very very accurate.

My question is this. What twist rate, bullet weight, and bullet would you recommend for a live varmint rig, with shots out to 500-600 yds?

Thanks, Merlyn

as universal combo 600 yards 1 in 8 with 105/107 works very fine with no neck tur, chamber ( 0.271 )

for top accuracy at 600 yards

1 in 10 with flat base 80 to 88 gr with no neck turn or minimun chamber as 0.269 wich allow a lgh kiss with neck turning tool

good shooting

I'd probably still go with a 1/8 twist for a live varmint rig. That'd allow you to shoot any of the currently available bullets, up to and including the new 115gr. Sierra. I haven't done any live varmint shooting with either Berger or JLK VLDs, but would expect them to be more likely to expand than the Sierra MatchKings, since they use thinner J4 jackets. Hornady's 105 A-Max would likely be even better from what I've heard from others who've used A-Maxs on varmints. Otherwise, Hornady's 87gr. V-Max and their 87BTHP would probably do well for what you're trying to do.
