Okay Guys,

I don't own a 6mmBR. But, I need help.

I just fabricated some 22 PPC brass from Lapua 220 Russian brass (by running the 220 brass through a Redding 22 PPC full length sizing die). When I fire-formed this brass burned powder (soot) blew back onto the outside of the cases all the way back to the case head.

Upon reloading these same fire-formed cases and firing them, the soot appeared again on about half of the cases. The dimensions of the fabricated 22 PPC brass appears to match the reloading books very closely. My rifle is a new Cooper Model 21 single shot bolt rifle.

Any ideas why this is happening? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
John in Dallas, TX
