22BR Low Recoil Load

Gentlemen,

I'm seriousely considering a 22BR rifle for paper punching. However, I am handicapped and have a partially detached retina, so recoil is of a major concern. A 223 Remington is probably as high recoil as is safe for me, and for my peace of mind, I'd like to go as low as possible.

This brings me to my question: I'm very interested in accuracy, but what is the lightest grain bullet & least amount of powder that you may been able to create an accurate 22 BR load? In my experience with handloading, as you back off on the powder, you do loose accuracy at a certain point. I have also found that longer (and thus heavier) bullets are ballisticly more stable than shorter stubby ones.

I have a lot of experience in sub-calibers, so I am also considering the 20 BR. I would be interested in hearing list members feelings about that cartridge.

Any information thay you can share with me would be wonderful.

Sincerely,
Kory
