I have a Winchester newer model 70 varmint rifle in 220 Swift caliber with the stainless barrel. Any thoughts on whether this would make a decent platform for rebarreling to 6BR?

Thanks

Hi

If you plan things right... you should be able to burn the barrel out pretty soon in the 220 swift!! I would not rebarrel it until the barrel had reached the end of its life, thats what I mean. Save up for all your other goodies to make the 6mm Br whilst you give the barrel I hiding. Thats a beautiful thing when you want to kill a barrel....cause 99.999999% of the time your trying to do the very best to preserve the barrel life. What I'd give to do that!

I have a friend that has just used a winchester action to build a Ackley Improved 308 specifically for 110 grain bullets. It shoots. Therefore I cant see why you couldnt
use this action. Have the action trued properly and off you go!

The rounds should work fine in the magazine.... pick a nice contour for the barrel and length and there you have it...

Have a good one

I'll find out some more info for you!!
