Hi
After reading a lot about this caliber I have decided to have one built. I have been shooting a 300 Win Mag heavy gun and a 25-06 AI light gun.I know funny choice for a caliber the 25-06 AI!

I think that I have a general idea what components and configuration to use, but if any ones feels that any of my components can be improved feel free to comment. It would be appreciated!

1. Remington action trued( Im Aussie so custom actions are a little out of the question if I want my gun this decade)
2. Hart 28" Max. Heavy varmint barrel 10 twist ( I feel that the standard 6mmBr is a little slow with a 107g projectile so I plan to shoot 95's, please correct me if I'm wrong)
3. McMillan Edge stock
4. jewel trigger
5. Either nightforce of Leupold scope

Ok, a question
1. what diameter neck???????

I will post some pictures once it is complete!!

Thanks for everyones input

couple considerations.

EDGE stock is good choice but might not be long enough to properly balance a HV taper.

Consider 28" LV taper to under .930-.950 at muzzle.

Would look at a Broughton barrel with 5C rifling. Will be faster and easier to clean. That is one top winning barrel right now and delivery is under 30 days.

Rem action might need to have the firing pin bushed for a BR. Seems to be a problem with 700s and the BR.

Either straight BR or possible Dasher would be great choice. If going to 1000 would really consider the 8 twist.

Lapua brass and .271 neck will work very well.

Hi Ackley,

I am going down the same path as you at the moment.

My reamer should be arriving from Dave Kiff next week. I went with a .268 nk so I can slightly skim the necks just to clean them up.

I am seriously thinking about the 1:10, I will be using the rifle for 500m Fly shoot, and some club point blank BR.

I would seriously look at the Shehane tracker, mine has just arrived from Bill I think it will be perfect for the job. I tend to agree with the comments about the Macmillian Edge maybe being a bit short in the forend for the 28" barrel.

Have you considered using a Maddco barrel? It is a local product and they have proven themselves at the World BR Championships in the past few years and are used by more than a few Aussies, not that there is anything wrong with a Hart either!

Good luck with the project!

Excellent feed back everyone!!!!! You all have answered so many questions and have altered my plans!!

The McMillan Edge would be a little small in the forend, so the tracker is looking good!!!

As much as I'd love to go the Dasher, for now I'll stick to the standard. I dont plan to shoot 1000yds with it but instead 500m Fly and point blank bench as someone put it.

I'll put in another post asking about the barnard action, to see what everybody out there knows about it!!

Thanks again people!!!
