Actually, John Benjamin is going to make and chamber the barrel, a 30 inch medium Palma taper and then fit it to the Remington M700 action.

John Benjamin is a Portland based barrel maker. He makes them from start to finish, with chrome moly steel.

you are about to get spoiled. I had Mike Bryant put a 30 inch Medium palma taper 8 twist Shilen Ratchet in 6BR on one of my prone guns. That is the most fun gun to shoot. I have shot it at 200, 300, 600, 800, and 1000 yds. This past weekend, a friend had his 6XC Tubb 2000 and I had my 6BR for some 600 yd practice. WE shot all morning and put the target away with the x ring "mostly pastered" over. in the economics department, I can shoot 2 6BR for the cost of 1 .308, thus I get twice the utiles, well nearly.
Have fun

John - Dittos on preparing to get spoilt. I'm in a bit of a funk tonight - drove all the way down to Hutch yesterday to shoot the last XC & 600yd. any/any this morning, only to wake up to fog so thick we couldn't see the targets from 200. Didn't clear up until afternoon, well after the match had been called. As always, I was looking forward to shooting the XC match, but was expecting to have more fun with the BR Imp. in the any/any. Drove through some light rain to get home, and promptly transferred rifles & gear into my truck, loaded up a portable bench & rests, hooked up the trailer and loaded the 4-wheeler, then headed down to my range to make up for missing the opportunity this morning. We've got our pasture rented to a neighbor with cow/calf pairs, and they were spread out all over my range when I got there. So I still haven't popped a cap all weekend, and am a bit let down as a result. The season's over out here - this morning's match was the last one of the year. Not sure how far I'll have to travel to find a couple more matches to shoot the BR in, but I'm going to be checking club match schedules. Have fun with yours when John gets it finished.

Hi Dennis. I shot a practice long range match yesterday and shot a 95-1X at 1000 with my Palma rifle. Not bad for me. I plan to shoot at Ben Avery in January, including the 600 yard match the first day (January 21st)I will have the 6BR for that. I am gathering loading stuff while I wait for the rifle.

Jerry - Nope, I was referring to Hutchinson, Ks. Central Ks. Gun Club runs XC (out to 600yds.) & 100yd. reduced highpower matches just north of town.

I spoke to John Benjamin today and he said my barrel is drilled and perhaps he will rifle it tomorrow! I hope to get this thing by Saturday.
