Thank you. The private messaging is something we really wanted to include. Unfortunately it simply isn't available with the turnkey site-building software suite we are using. We've asked for the feature, and simpler photo posting methods, but they just aren't part of the package.

I suggest, to avoid spammers or privacy issues, if you post your email, you can type it:

JohnSmith@NOSPAMearthlink.com

And then include instructions on how to delete "NO SPAM".

We're sorry we don't have a better work-around yet. In fairness to the software, if it wasn't available, there might not be any 6mmbr.com at all. It lets us build photo galleries, polls, bullet comparator etc. easily and quickly without complicated html coding or the need to hire expensive third-party consultants.

If the site generates enough traffic we will consider shifting the boards to a dedicated message board hosting system, but that will increase the cost of running the site by 1000%. So far we've kept annoying popups and sponsor ads out of the site altogether, and we want to keep it that way.

This site represents hundreds of hours of volunteer labor and money out of the founders' pockets. If we can find a non-intrusive way to fund and upgrade the message board we will do so as board traffic grows.

We will look at your suggestion. Apparently there are month-to-month bulletin board hosting solutions that might do the job without the cost of a $400+ software package and the worries/expense of a dedicated server. But we won't hook up anything that isn't 100% dead-nuts reliable. And we don't want to bounce people out of the main site structure so they can't quickly navigate to photos, articles, etc. That's one nice thing about how the site works now. One click and you're right where you want to be. Also, we have to see how activity stabilizes in the boards. Obviously we don't need a system to handle 100,000+ members. But private messaging, search function, and more detailed user profiles would be nice. And we want the capability of merging posts so we don't have 5 different threads running on seating depth for 107 SMKs.

Our site usage stats have WAY exceeded our expectations--14,000 pageviews on 9/3/04 and counting. This indicates people are going deep into the site, accessing the many articles, galleries, polls etc. That's good. But reaching "critical mass" on the message boards may take a bit more time.

Hang in there guys. We'll figure this one out.

The thing you mentioned about the combining of threads is one *very* nice thing that the moderator over there does; he has a separate 'FAQ' thread/index, in which the individual topics then are lists and descriptions of all the major threads on that particular topic.

Might be worth touching base w/ the guy that runs Florida Highpower and the message boards, German Salazaar and see how he likes it and any caveats or problems.

Would I be better off going to a 22BR for my purpose?

MODERATOR: Ed, you may want to repost this in the reloading forum, but here's some answers. I talked to John, who runs Varmintsforfun.com. He has a Nesika 6BR Varminter. You can see it at the top of the Varmint page. He's been running a 12 twist and shooting the 65gr and 75gr V-max, but he told me that if he did it again, he'd go 10 twist, because that will let you run the 87gr V-max and the shorter boat-tails. His has a friend with a 10 twist and he says they don't see significant loss in accuracy or velocity going from 12 to 10. The 10-twist just gives you a little more versatility.

If you're on a tight budget, one thing you might consider is a getting a take-off 6PPC barrel rechambered to 6BR. A 1:14 will shoot up to the 70-grainers, and you say that's your upper limit. The barrel would be pretty short by the time it's rechambered as they might have to recut the threads for your Remington Action.

I think for your needs, a 12 Twist Lilja 3-groove or a Schneider P5 might be the best option with the least fouling. That should give you 3300-3400fps depending on barrel length. Pac-Nor offers a pre-chambered option, but we think you'll get the best accuracy if you have a good smith put it on with a .272" no-turn neck. Re 22BR, that would work fine too, but then you can't shoot Lapua brass out of the box.
