So... how difficult is it to get a 6mm BR to feed from a magazine... say for Rapids in XTC? I hear about people using the 6mm BR in magazine fed rifles for 300m UIT/ISSF shooting w/ good results, yes?

Jason Baney is working on the same issue. He says gunsmith Mike Bryant has figured aout a solution for Rem actions useing a stop plate in the magazine. The Tubb 2000 rifle also is offered in 6mmBR but I don't know if they mag feed.

FYI, in a few weeks, David Tubb himself will be doing an article on the 6XC for 6mmBR.com. I will ask him to address the question of mag feeding a 6 BR in the Tubb 2000.

Good, I'll be looking forward to it. Btwn the 300m rifles and the T2K in 6mm BR and being magazine fed, I was wondering if it would be plausible.

Mike Bryant built me a Remington 700 based 6BR tactical rifle last year which feeds from a magazine. The magazine block from a 223Rem was used in my rifle and it has to be brazed into place to prevent it from moving around. The magazine follower also needs to be shortened at the rear along with the top of the magazine spring.
My rifle feeds pretty well, not flawless, but a custom mag block will do the trick. Also many NRA Highpower Match Rifle gunsmiths are familiar with making these types of cartridges feed consistently. Many highpower shooters have made their existing long action rifles shoot smaller cartridges using the same concept successfully.

I have a 6mmBR that feeds. It is built on a savage action with a 12 twist tensioned hart barrel. I mainly use it for coyote hunting back in Texas.
I had Kevin Rayhill in Chadron, Nebraska do it for me. I'm not sure what mag. box he used, but he put a piece of mylar on the back of the box and it seems to do fine. It'll hold up to 4 in the box and 1 in the chamber. As long as you don't try to chamber extrememly fast it does fine.
I'll try and get a picture of it later tonight or tommorrow.
Great site and the 6mmBr is MY FAVORIT ROUND.

Zack, thanks for the mag feed work-around. Jason Baney, our 1000yd editor, is working on a Rem-actioned varminter with a detachable magazine and he hasn't come up with a completely satisfactory solution yet.

That kind of touches on what I was looking at: for Rapid Sitting, I'm looking at 60 seconds total to go from Standing to Sitting (70 seconds for 300yd Rapid Prone), get oriented and NPA adjusted and on the correct target, and then shoot 10 rounds, including one magazine reload. Once all the general futzing w/ getting down and setup and the magazine change is subtracted, a person is looking at around (roughly) 3-4 seconds per shot. Granted, it's a pretty generous target (3" X ring, 7" 10 ring, 13" bull), but thats still ripping along pretty good w/ an iron-sighted bolt gun. If I stick w/ this bolt gun for XTC, then I guess a 6mm XC starts making more sense. If I go back to a spacegun for XTC and use the bolt for LR/F-class, then single-load isn't a problem at all.

My T2K in 6BR feeds fine from the magazine. My Rem700 will not feed very well from the mag, but since it is a prone rifle, it doesn't matter.

I have Win 70 SA classic that a local gunsmith made into a repeater. He milled a new follower, inserted a magazine block at the back of the mag box and used a 223 follower spring. It will reliably feed 4 rounds as long as you bring the bolt back all the way with some authority.

Hi people,
I am from Belgium, so forgive me for my writing mistakes.
I have build several mag fed rifles based on the Rem 700.
Actually they are tacticle rifles build on the ai chassis system. It has a 5 or 10 shot mag that can be modified for feeding the 6br. Just put in a pacer in front of the mag shorten the follower and start shooting. The ejector in the gun needs some tuning for ejecting the brass.Try to take some pictures so can see it yourself.

Thanks for your post. Please send the photos to Mailbox@6mmbr.com. The spacer--does it go in the rear end of the magazine or the side closer to the chamber? We are very interested in what you are doing because Jason Baney, our 1000yd editor is working on a similar "tactical" mag-fed rifle with a McMillan stock. There is probably a market for such modified magazines in the USA if they really are reliable.

the spacer goes in on the front. It leaves some space at the back of the mag but that doesn't give problems and makes loading the mag easier.
The accuracy international mag is a single stack mag so the cartridge lines up well centered in the Rem action. So far they work well. Loading the mag takes some time getting used to because the 6br is short and fat. We load them and then give them a tap so the bullets move forwards agains the spacer.The ejector is the difficult element in fast shooting.You have to weaken the ejector spring a certain amount (trail and error) to find the correct pressure. Mostly it is not ejected brass that slows you down.Take care off the pictures this weekend.
I build my first 6mm Norma Br in 1996 and was found of it after the first match i used it in.
I like this site very much, lot of information and a nice setup.

Hey guys--Jerry stiller (on benchrest.com) just announced he is building a rem clone action mag or SS in stainless on the first run. This might be the answer to my action question!! This should be the solution to truing a rem, because get this...the price tag will be 500-600$ -- about as much as it costs for a donor rem and all the work needed!!!!
I have hopefully reserved #007 :D :D
