Hello there

I have a friend who is an engineer/steel fabricator with all the tools i could ever possibly want, and i was playing with the idea of getting himt o make me my own action.

However i find myself at a lodd for ideas, as i have no idea what to base it on.

i have picked a calibre that i would like to use (.223 Remington) which is shot up at our local club by many.

Does anyone have any measurements/blueprints for any centrefires preferably in a .223 that i might be able to have a look at.

It would be wonderful to sit with him and make it all from scratch as i would then learn alot more, and also appreciate it greatly.

I'd also like to take photos and make some write ups as we build this step by step, and keep 6mmbr.com informed and up to date on our trials and error's, i think viewing a step by step custom action build from scratch would be something awesome to see progress from week to week.

So any information would be greatly appreciated, as my love for the sport has grown so much so that i am really excited, now tha ti have the people and the lathe's to go ahead with this sort of project.

Thanks For Reading

God Bless

Dave Aka Primal.

I have also thought of doing this. I have a ton of different actions laying around and i thought about taking ideas from different ones and incorporating them into an action of my doing. I have tossed around the idea with a friend and we thought of combining the rear locking lugs of a Rem. 788 along with it's firing pin assembly and mating that with the front part of a Rem. 700 with a very heavy integral recoil lug. Of course the bolt would have to be sleeved to take out the play in a 788 action.

This was just a thought, what do you think about it.
